Flushing, Michigan Fireball/Meteor Sighting (Possible Impact) Maps

Posted: January 26, 2008

Date: March 11, 2007 Time: 8:03 p.m.

Last night heading south on I-75. The meteor fell about 500 feet from my car almost next to me as it came to the ground, just to my left a bit in front. It was 8:03 pm, 47 degrees and about 1 mile before the Flushing exit off of I-75 south to the east of me and seemed to be going towards be as it landed. It was very close to the highway.

I went to Google earth last night trying to figure out where exactly it was. I think it was near the body of water but can't be sure. Or the subdivision that in the shape of a circle. It was beautiful, a fire ball from the sky.

From my report it did get brighter and brighter, and was larger than a softball. It did go out just before it hit down, but it was very close to the ground before it did.

Additional Information:

It landed in Michigan, at 8:03 pm. I've included a screen shot from mapquest of where it was landing. It was right in this area - because after I saw it I looked at the time, temperature and then the nearest sign - when the sign came up it was 1/4 mile to Flushing. But I don't think it was before 475 exit. I'm not sure. But it was within a mile of these two spots. The second screen shot gives town info.

Thank you to the witness for the report.
