Bright Orange/Red Lights In The Sky Over Pittsfield Massachusetts

Date:  July 21, 2012
Time:  Evening.

We saw the same thing last night in Pittsfield. You described exactly what we saw, my husband said at first, “oh it's hot air balloons”, but they were seemingly close by and when we got a good look, it was not hot air.

He said it could be a candle in a balloon or something, but it wasn't. They appeared same time as you mentioned. It came from right and slowly came across, then they all took the same path, about 2-5 min between each.

When it got to a certain spot (we saw it between two trees) it grew smaller, turned red and it was gone. We saw 4, and each did the same thing, took same path and in the same spot turned red and disappeared.

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

  1. Saw what sounds like the same thing on saturdat night July 21 in Northern KY/Cincinnati area. It was just starting to get dark and we had quite a few people at our pool party. One guest commented on the slow moving red spot in the sky moving in a NW direction and within a few seconds there were more moving on the same course. We saw 2 or 3 dim and then the light went out. The other 10 or 12 just floated by until out of sightdue to trees in back yard. They were all silent and seemed to be fairly close. All my guests say them but no one took pictures or movie with phone cameras. We joked it was "Invaders from Mars" but we reaionalized it could have been flares attached to balloons. Have you ever heard of this trick being played before?
