I too have seen these mysterious orange/red lights (fireballs as I described to my husband), Maricopa, AZ., Southwest 12 of Phoenix, AZ.
Seeing a total of 5 all ending in a straight formation line east to west. I did see 2 appear from the west while the others had been in the air already. This was all shortly after midnight 1/1/13 AZ time.
