Hey Brian, I saw your post about this object over Spokane while trying to research and figure out what we saw last night. My husband and I were at a friend's house in West Asheville (yes, I know this is NC) and we saw a very similar thing.
It was a red-yellow/orange "star"-shaped UFO. It looked like a spiky Christmas tree ornament moving from west to east slower than an airplane, until it went up, and instead of getting smaller and smaller, and blipped "off" for a split second.
Then back on again, and then winked out altogether. The whole process took around 10 minutes, and happened around 11:00 p.m. My husband thinks it was too bright to be a flying lantern, but we intend to do a test in similar conditions some other night.
There's no way we could figure out how high it was, since we don't know the size of the object.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
Also, please feel free to send in your sightings that have happened years ago. So many of these older sightings are nothing short of amazing.
