The family had another experience in 1988 or 1989 at the same location when a beam of blue light dropped silently below the clouds about a 1/4 mile away from the deck we were standing on, and then shot straight back up into the clouds. There were two witnesses who saw it drop down below the clouds and three more (myself included) who saw a blue flash go back up into the clouds. The interesting part about that was it was dusk (about 8 pm), cloudy and the power had gone out about a half hour before the sighting and the power came back on about 15 minutes later. The water was still that time, too. It was very quiet. It was not a plane (too low) 350-400' in the air and traveled vertically. A helicopter would have been heard, and everyone only saw the light and nothing else.
