Time: Approx: 10:45 p.m.
Hello, last night around 10:45 p.m., we were sitting on the back deck of the house on Oak Island (West Pelican Dr). We noticed a bright light, orange/red in color approaching from Holden Beach traveling east.
It was low flying maybe 1000 feet. It looked like it was moving in small quick movements, or bouncing. It stayed on a steady course and we watched it as it passed in front of us. Once it passed us, it turned north just after it passed the Middleton water tower.
It accelerated and quickly disappeared in an arch like upward motion. There was no noise associated with it. We were able to get a close look at it. Our house faces the wide open spaces of the marsh and creeks on the back side of Oak Island.
It was clear at that time. When we were over our shock of what we were seeing, I had my friend to get the camera, but by then it had moved away and disappeared upward into the sky. If I were to estimate the distance, this craft seemed to be following the intercostals waterway.
It looked crescent shaped, like a boomerang. It was not a Chinese lantern or anything I have ever seen before. There is no explanation as to what we saw. My friend is a retired CRNA and I am a RN.
We were wondering why there was no more reports about the sighting as it was decently early and there was a meteor shower going on which would bring folks out to look upward.

From Costa Mesa, CA 92627; OMG!! We just saw the same thing while in the jacuzzi tonight 6:40-45ish. When my man said look, what is that? I looked up N/W and saw a bright light/flame(thought.. maybe a plane), which quickly turned into a red boomerang shape (thought a helicopter). It was moving pretty quickly, then just hovered. I thought it was the local Costa Mesa helicopters, so "no big" and went back to relaxing. That's when my man said, "It's disappearing", as he watched the glow turn to nothing.(wow)
I looked up at the sky, but it was gone. VERY STRANGE! My first thought was meteor, but the hovering was a bit confusing.
Wondering... did anyone else see this... Maybe a new craft we've developed, that would be AWESOME!

I saw something very similar to this tonight, Dec 4 '12, in Tucson Arizona just over Sabino Canyon. No sound, bright amber colored boomerang shaped flying through the sky, then it zoomed off and disappeared into thin air.
