Hi, we live in west Los Angeles and last night (7/24) at 9:10 p.m. we had a sighting from a patio in the skies over Southern Los Angeles and it was similar to some of the experiences posted on your website.
Flame like orange light which sometimes showed a tapering end, which was more vertical facing the ground. Without the tail visible, we thought it could be a plane since LAX was close.
However, we continued watching and it certainly was not a flame since:
1. The light flickered like a large orange flame.
2. Sometimes displayed tapering light vertical down.
3. Was heading from west towards east.
4. Was moving very slowly.
My camera battery was not loaded, otherwise I would have had an amazing shot of this sighting. Thanks.
