Last night, around 6:55 p.m., my wife and I got home from her job in Rockwood. We live in SE Portland, between Division and Powell Blvd on 78th Avenue. I was already in the house, and my wife yelled at me to come outside quickly.
When I got outside, we were standing on our driveway, looking basically west at 70 degrees. In the sky was what appeared to be an object on fire, at least, glowing very brightly like it was on fire. Maybe 1,000 feet up, at least.
It was quite large when first observed, but it's size and the intensity of the glow diminished over a few minutes, until we couldn't see anything. The object moved very slowly to the north/northwest. We are not sure what we observed.
