Orange Lights Seen Floating Over Palm Bay Florida (Chinese Lanterns)

My name is (name removed). I also saw those lights floating up over Palm Bay, Florida on that night.

They were fairly close to my house and they are without question Chinese lanterns that were released that evening.

Not sure why they were released, but that's what they are.

Orange Lights Flying Over Beaverton Oregon (Chinese/Wish Lanterns)

I also saw these lights last night while walking my dogs with my son. My son got a pretty good picture of the lights, and I was very excited at first, I've always wanted to see a UFO, but as I looked at the lights more, they almost looked like those glowing paper lanterns that you let float up into the sky.

However, the picture my son took shows the lights in a pretty strange pattern. I will try and post the picture later.

Wedding Party Releases Chinese Lanterns Over Portland Oregon (Chinese/Wish Lanterns)

I hate to debunk this, but I'm 100% sure you saw my Chinese lanterns that we set off the night of my wedding. It would have been just after 10:00 p.m. when we let them off at the Queen Anne Victorian House.

There were 9 of them and the way they formed in the sky and floated off together was easily thought of as UFO's even by the people on the other side of the house that were unaware that we were doing this.

We had a couple of people actually point them out to be UFO's, until they realized it was our lanterns. Sorry for the scare.

Orange Lights Seen Flying Over The American River Area California (Chinese/Wish Lanterns)

Hello, just to let you know, I also saw 3 orange lights in the sky just as you described last night around 8:30 p.m., in the American River area. It was pretty un-nerving.  Five minutes later 3 more came by in the same manner, but lower.

As my neighbor and I were watching them, one started falling and fell to the ground several yards away from us. He ran to where it landed and discovered a small air balloon type of structure with a small amount of some type of fuel still burning in it.

I was very glad to have discovered what the lights were, because they initially scared me. Not sure who has been launching these things, but they could be a potential fire hazard.

The one that we found had landed on a gravel rd, but could have easily have landed in a grassy area. Needless to say it was an awesome sighting.

Orange Lights In The Sky Near Marion Indiana (Chinese/Wish Lanterns)

I found this page, because I just saw lots of orange lights flying through the sky near Marion, Indiana. However after tracking down the source (instead of following where the lights were going, I tried driving around where they were first coming from)

I found a party with kids lighting candles in bags, which I have seen before, but didn't think that was what this was until I seen it first hand. Thought I would mention it, in case other people saw the same thing.

Fireball Objects In The Sky Over North Tacoma Washington (Chinese Lanterns)

I remember seeing the lights too, my boyfriend and I were driving around North Tacoma towards Ruston, and spotted the fireball looking flying objects in the sky.

We were puzzled and decided to investigate. The source of these glowing round lights was the Corban School of Ministry. The lanterns could be seen taking flight from behind their gate.

Brian Vike, I saw those lights you saw in the sky. I was on the Greenway near Riverside and my buddy texted me about aliens. I was with two friends and they also witnessed these weird lantern like lights in the sky.

They seemed to be lanterns floating in the sky, but it also seemed they were being released further southwest from where we were. Just letting you know I guess.

5 Orange Glowing Lights Over Elizabethtown New York (Chinese/Wish Lanterns)

Hello, I saw five total orange glowing entities in the sky on Sunday 8/5 while in Elizabethtown, NY.  This was probably around 10:30 p.m. or so over the course of a half hour or so. 

I have video. Never seen anything like it.

Additional Information:
My Dad, who witnessed the globes as well checked with a neighbor on Tuesday. The neighbor stated that his adult kids were lighting off little balloons that burn and hover. Some sort of new quasi-firework supposedly.

Lights In The Sky Over Pinewood Grove Wellington Florida (Chinese/Wish/Illuminated Lanterns)

I live in Pinewood Grove at the corner of Wellington Trace and Forest Hill.

The lights last night were illuminated lanterns. One landed in our neighbors yard on Marble Canyon Drive.

The other two landed in the trees near Wellington Elementary.

Additional Information:

We tried to retrieve one today, but they disintegrated in the rain this morning. We originally saw four. One crashed in a tree at Marble Canyon Drive. The other three made it over a house and probably landed near Wellington elementary.

Bright Orange Oval Shaped Object Seen In The Sky Over Philadelphia Pennsylvania (Chinese Lantern)

I saw a bright orange oval shaped thing smoothly travel across the sky, above the tree line, near by where I live. I was driving myself home around 9:00 p.m. last night, July 28, 2012. I was alone.

The orange thing smoothly moved from east to west, then it changed direction and actually came towards me, then just stopped and hovered above. This is in the Philadelphia, PA, suburbs, and there were no other cars around.

So I stopped my car, shut off the radio and AC fan so I could hear if it made a noise, like a remote controlled thing. I say thing, because it did not look like a plane or helicopter, just a smooth, slightly flickering from within, bright orange oval.

I rolled down the window and discovered there was no noise. I told my husband, and we retraced my drive the next night. We saw nothing like it. Then my son and his girlfriend came over for a visit.

I told them of the orange thing. They laughed and said it was probably one of those floating paper sky lanterns. I looked it up on the internet, and I believe this is what I saw. Same color, size, shape, flickering because of the candle inside.

The flame makes heat, which makes it rise, the breeze moves it smoothly across the sky. If there is a current, the thing can change direction.

I'm going to buy an orange one and see if it looks like what I saw.

Last night in Hayward, Wi we were in a boat on a small lake/clear skies. We saw orange lights slowly moving east to west then flickering like something burning out.

There were approximately 10 moving one after another, uneven spacing/timing.

Object Of Flames Seen In The Sky Over Camarillo California (Wish/Chinese Lantern)

Time: Approx: 10:30 p.m.

Hello, I saw something like you described, this past Friday night, after 10:30 p.m. and perhaps as late as 11:30 p.m. I let my dogs out for their last opportunity to go to the bathroom for the night and saw this thing in the sky.

I live just north of Las Posas and 3 blocks west of Carmen.

I say this "thing", when looking north from my back yard. There were actual flames that were looking like flames would do in a fireplace or other type fire.

This thing was suspended in the air by a balloon I am guessing, although I could not see a balloon. Initially, the flames were really burning, but they began to diminish over the 3 or 4 minute time I saw it.

The thing moved from the north to the east, and slightly south. The movement was slow and gradual.

Then it moved to the west and eventually burned out and disappeared from sight. I did not see anything dropping from this thing. No embers, sparks or anything.

Chinese Lanterns Released For Chinese New Year Celebration Marietta Georgia

Brian, we released about 15 sky lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Years at about 10:30 p.m. (I think) on Saturday 2/5/11.

 

We are about 0.5 miles due west from the Square. They were gorgeous, each carrying a wish for the New Year.

 

They achieved pretty high altitude, and I can definitely understand that without any context, these lanterns could've been pretty eerie.

 

They drifted mainly East over the square and probably burned for 5-10 minutes. I attached some pictures.

Light Rising From The Ground To The Sky Over Zephyrhills Florida (Chinese Lanterns)

Hi Brian, my name is (name removed). I was on vacation in Zephyrhills and saw these lights. I walked outside and saw them. I ran inside to get the rest of the family.

Nobody knew what they were. I called my mom who was about 8 miles down the road.

I had her look outside and she just saw the very end of them.

The lights almost seem like they were floating, maybe with the wind.

They were going from the ground up to the sky. They went a long ways. I almost thought they might be those bags that fly up with a candle in them, but I think these lights were to big and bright for that.

I don’t know what they were and it is still bugging me. I was at my in-laws in a trailer park for retirees. We got several others in the park to see them.

Orange Lights Seen Over Redlands And Loma Linda California Turn Out To Be Chinese Lanterns

Hello Mr. Vike, several night watchmen at my company have seen the orange light a number of times this week. We believe that Chinese lanterns are the culprit. They are being launched several times a week now from the Redlands or Loma Linda area.

 

The balloons use a burning fuel cell sometimes made of wax. They can fly for around 20 minutes before going out. Just before the lantern go out it drops streams of burning wax all over the ground, then flicker out.

 

This is only a problem when the lanterns hover at 10-20 feet off the ground where they could start a fire. From even a small distance at night they just appear to be an orange fire hovering around the mountain side.

 

The manufacturers of the product claim their lanterns are completely biodegradable.

 

I don't think these are safe to be launching into the heavy commercial, private and Military air traffic that fills the San Bernardo night sky, or  sending flammables hovering over the San Bernardino mountains range which is on fire nearly all spring and summer each year.

Orange Lights Spotted Over Mahwah New Jersey (Chinese Lanterns)

 

Date:  March 17, 2012

Time:  Evening.

 

I saw the same thing over Mahwah, NJ Saturday night, 3-17-12. We saw one fly past every 10 minutes in the same flight pattern. Orange ball of light, almost looked like a giant plastic bag with a flame inside.

 

We would watch it fly away until it got so small we couldn't see it anymore. We were outside by the fire pit in the backyard. We had about six kids with us and eight adults.

 

We made so much noise the neighbors came out with binoculars. We called the police to report it. The police came just as the fourth one showed up.

 

About fifteen minutes later we saw 3 more, but they looked like they were coming from the ground up, maybe 2 or 3 streets away.

 

So the cop took off to investigate.

Red Lights Near Bob Evans In Athens Ohio (Possible Chinese Lanterns)

Those flew right over my head. I only caught the last 5 of them. I was told they were red lanterns sent up in Albany Ohio. They were absolutely quite, but my only doubt was how fast they went over my head. I was near Bob Evans in Athens at the time.
