Time: Evening.
Rancho Cordova, California lights in the sky. Reddish/orange lights. I counted 6 in a straight line and would vanish one at a time.

I saw the EXACT same thing happen in Indiana. Around 6 o clock, i was exiting a movie theatre in northwest Indiana, and i saw about 5 yellow/orange lights dot the skyline. It was a really cloudy night and no stars could be seen. However, these glowed with ambience. The locations are very different, but the encounter happened around the same time period and day (January 11th).
I saw these lights, as I was driving towards downtown Sacramento. About 5:55pm they were going southbound. It was on Saturday night 1/12/13. I only saw 3 lights and they were below the clouds. Very strange. No FAA lights on them is what made me notice them, as Sacramento has quite a bit of air traffic most of the time.
