Object Was Like A Green Firework Rocket And Observed Over Mt. Bethel Pennsylvania

Brian, I saw the post on your Vike Factor blog about tonight's green meteor.

I saw it in Mt Bethel, PA. It was like a green firework rocket moving north to south, much slower than say the Geminids. Lasted only a few seconds.

From my vantage point it disappeared behind a building before it went out. Quite sure it was a meteor based on the wide geographic area from where it was spotted. Actually much higher than some folks suspected.

Rocket Shaped UFO With Blue Flame Behind Seen In The Sky Between Medford And Grants Pass Oregon

Time:  Around 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

I've been on the web all day and cannot find anyone else reporting it.

We live in Grants Pass Oregon. Yesterday, (January 4, 2012) at around 5:00 or 5:30, we were driving home from Medford. We were traveling North on I-5 somewhere between the Gold Hill exit and the Rogue River exit.

The object went right in front of our field of vision (as seen through our windshield). It came traveling from the East (sort of) and was headed in the opposite direction.

It was headed down and across as if it were definitely going to crash into the mountains, only a mile or two in front of us.

At first we thought it was a meteor, but then realized it was very close and then we noticed the large blue flame. I can only describe it as a perfect rocket shape, very big, maybe the size of a 2 seater airplane. The blue flame was unmistakably large.

Very bright blue flame behind it. I hesitate to say the flame was behind it because it looked like the flame was in front of the rocket shaped part. As we continued to drive, we fully expected that after a mile or two of driving, as we passed the smaller foothills, that we would see part of the mountain in flames and a crash site. The whole sighting lasted maybe 4 seconds.

Clearly, the 5 or 6 cars on the freeway near us saw it too, but no one slowed or stopped as we were traveling at 65 mph and it was dark out. Let me know if you find anything similar, my husband and I are very curious.

Large Orange Glow Over San Diego California (Delta II Rocket)

Time: Approx: 7:30 p.m.

Update: Thanks to one of the visitors, they were able to help identify what the light was, a Delta II Rocket launched from Vandenberg AFB.

We had just returned home from dinner for our daughter’s 15th b-day last night. We got out of the car and I noticed this large orange glow in the sky and pointed it out to everyone. My husband thought it was an airplane at first, but the longer we stood there staring into the night sky, we all realized we were witnessing something very exciting.

After a few seconds, we saw a huge flare up and then it seemed to burn out a little and become much smaller, but it continued in the sky along the same path. I’d never seen anything like, very cool.

Additional Information:

We are in San Diego, California, USA. It was roughly 7:30pm when we got home (or maybe a few minutes earlier). We were facing west and it appeared to be moving south or southeast.

Twentynine Palms, California (Minotaur 4 Rocket)

Time: Approx: 9:30 p.m.

Saw the same thing. We have seen the space shuttle come home a few times since we grew up in the south. We thought it may have been the folks from the international space station, but nay, it couldn't have been and I believe that it was way to big to be airplane size if you give it context. I think I will refresh my memory and look for a video of the space shuttle and compare visually with what I saw last night.

It defiantly entered the atmosphere. We saw sparks, then it seemed to glow like hot metal. I thought oh crap, there will be a shock wave because that is huge, but it never fell. We saw all the exact same things.

Object With Trail Seen From Temecula California (Minotaur 4 Rocket)

Time: Approx: 9:30 p.m.

Brian, my partner and I witnessed something similar as we were driving home last night from Temecula. It was around 9:30 pm and we were heading west on the 91 freeway and were at approximately Beach Boulevard. I was in the passenger seat and I looked up and saw what looked like a shooting star. What was strange was it had a long, white trail. I told my partner and he looked up and saw it as well.

After a few seconds the trail disappeared and the object was just sitting in place. It didn't have any blinking lights as planes have and was just a constant light in the sky. After a few more moments the object disappeared in the sky and appeared in the sky further south. Again, it was just sitting in the sky and not moving.

You could tell it wasn't a plane as there were no lights blinking. It stayed in this location for another few moments. I noticed a plane heading from offshore towards the object and then all of a sudden the light disappeared again. This time I did not see it again and neither did my partner.

Thanks for your site as I thought we were the only ones to see this bizarre object.
