Time: 11:00 p.m.

Location of Sighting: Out in field in Cheraw.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Ball.

Full Description of event/sighting: Well, as I was coming home from town I looked up at the sky because it was raining. As I was looking out over the field a big green looking ball explodes and like beams of light shoots off of it and it disappears. I thought we were being bombed or something. My fiancé looked at me and said what was that. I was so scared I couldn't sleep. It was no transformer blowing up because it was a neon green and it made no sound. I can't even explain it. It exploded taller than the trees, it was huge. Please contact me I want be able to sleep until I know what that was. It happened not even a mile from my home.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

I live in Dalzell. I was outside between 11 and 11:30 PM talking on the phone with relatives, I also saw this.

What I saw was this: A large green ball drop from the sky off to my north-east (in the direction of Cheraw according to MapQuest). It came in at about a 45 degrees angle and left a visible trail behind it as it passed beneath the treetops and the horizon. I did see a very faint kind of "poof" of light after it was out of my line of sight.

It was unusual, but most likely a meteor that made it to the ground. If I remember correctly from Chemistry class, iron emits a green light when heated.......iron is the most popular form of metal in meteors.

It was really interesting.......if you could locate the "crash" site and recover the meteor, they are actually quite valuable.....I'd take a landed meteor that I could sell over another bland UFO sighting anyday.
