Stromness In The Orkney Islands Of Scotland Deep Red Glowing Sphere

Date: 1980's
Time: Evening.

Hello Brian, Whilst surfing the web I discovered a UFO site that mentioned Glowing Red Spherical UFO. This is a subject close to my heart as in the early 1980's I saw a deep red glowing sphere of light swoop down over the town, this had a smaller sphere rotating around it in an orbit fashion. It was around and 100 feet in diameter (guess) and the small one may have been 5-10 feet. I remembered seeing it after reading the book "Communion" by Whitley Streiber and as I read it I had a flashback type memory of the incident. The strange thing is, I have no recollection of the moments prior to the sighting or after the sighting and I did not remember anything about this until almost 10 years after the effect! My pal remembers it being dark orange. Drop me an email if you like.

Hi again

I saw the large, deep red glowing Sphere when I was a young lad over a town called Stromness in the Orkney islands of Scotland. At a guess, the thing was travelling at around a couple of hundred feet and like I said, was silent. I think it was headed in a south westerly direction. I did not mention/or remember seeing this thing until approx: 10 years after the event. I don't know what it was, but I was left shaken and paranoid after the flashback memory. My Father has seen several UFO's over the Orkney Islands since we moved there in the mid 1970's. I never mentioned this sighting to him until after the memory, my friend was there too and he remembers seeing a deep orange light. I try not to dwell on this too deeply as I get trouble sleeping so I better sign off for the night. I get up at 5am to work at 6. I will endeavor to try and remember anything else and make a drawing using Microsoft Paint. Speak soon.

Utrecht, Netherland A Dark Triangular Shaped Craft

Full Description of event/sighting: +/- 1985, Netherland, NATO base Soesterberg (Utrecht): Flying triangle or unknown flying craft above the city Utrecht.

When the air force base Soesterberg was active during "The Cold War" planes most of the time flew over my house or above the surrounding area to or from
the base. When those planes started to land on the airfield their undercarriage extended here too.

This event was during "The cold War" and therefore I kept my mouth shut and almost forgot what I saw. But now I remember this event and "The Cold
War" is over.

+/- 1985 just after sunset I was stargazing in my backyard, sometimes with binoculars and I do have a telescope with which I made photos, when I saw
something very dark moving across the sky. It was a triangular shaped object, dark, horizontally 30 metres and vertically 50 metres away from me, flying
in the direction of the base and it made no sound at all. I saw it for some 10 seconds. In that time there were some rumors that there were planes with
anti-sound and I don't know if this object was one of those, but why flying that low and soundless?

It flew from +/- south to north above Utrecht towards the base and if you draw a line over the point Highway A2 - Thoriumweg (next to Vleutensebrug/
Vleutenseweg) and the Mill Geesina (1853) at the Ruigenhoeksedijk which is west of the Highway A27 (Groenekanseweg) north-east of Utrecht then you
can see where it flew.

The Object:

Triangular with sides of 4 metres (12 feet) very dark.
No engines.
No exhausts
No ailerons
No cockpit
No smoke trial
No flashing lights
No other lights
No lights made by the engines
No reflection of the city lights on the object.

The color look liked the color of the stealth bomber which was shot down by the Serves during the Kosovo-war.I listened for a while if I could hear any sound for as the object should come to much down to gain height but there was nothing at all.

I receive from +/- 1975 magazines on; space travelling, astronomy, archaeology and geology. During that time I received a magazine from the Dutch Ministery of Defense "Herkenning" (herkenning = Recognizing)

UFO of 'geluidsloos' vliegtuig.

Tijdens de 'Koude Oorlog' sprak ik niet over bepaalde zaken die met militaire aangelegenheden te maken hadden. Nu kan het gedeeltelijk wel. Ik woon in Utrecht onder een van de vliegroutes van het voormalige militaire vliegveld Soesterberg. Daardoor heb ik honderden militaire vliegtuigen gezien en gehoord. Juist in de buurt waar ik woon werden meestal van de landende vliegtuigen de landingsgestellen uitgeklapt. Jaren lang was ik geabonneerd op het tijdschrift 'Herkenning' van defensie. Tevens heb ik abonnamenten op onder andere een sterrenkundig tijdschrift en op een over ruimtevaart. Verder beschik ik over een telescoop.

Rond 1985 stond ik achter in de tuin naar de sterren te kijken en soms gebruik ik daarbij een verrekijker. Plotseling kwam er een onbekend object aanvliegen en het was zo'n 30 meter horizontaal en zo'n 50 meter vertikaal bij mij vandaan toen ik het voor het eerst zag, het vloog langzaam en ik heb het zo'n 10 seconden lang kunnen bekijken. Het objectvloog duidelijk in de richting van de vliegbases Soesterberg.

Bijzonderheden van het object:
Het object was driehoekig met zijden van +/- 4 meter lang.
Geen motoren.
Geen uitlaten.
Geen vleugelkleppen.
Geen cockpit.
Geen rookspoor.
Geen knipperlichten.
Geen licht veroorzaakt door lampen.
Geen licht veroorzaakt door motoren.
Geen weerkaatsing van het stadslicht op het object.

De kleur van het object leek veel op de kleur van de stealthbommenwerper die tijdens de Kosovo-oorlog boven Servie is neergehaald. Wat ook opmerkelijk was was dat het object niet met de voorkant iets omhoog vloog zoals vliegtuigen doen als ze zweven. Ik heb nog geluisterd om te horen of het object alsnog geluid zou produceren als het met behulp van motoren hoogte zou houden en dit was niet het geval.

In die tijd zijn er incidenten geweest met UFO's bij de vliegbases Soesterberg, of dit object met die incidenten te maken heeft gehad weet ik niet. Het kan ook een onbekend soort vliegtuig zijn geweest met anti-geluid waar in die tijd melding van werd gemaakt in de media die melden dat er blijkbaar zulke vliegtuigen waren.

Over Cobourg, Ontario A Big Orange Ball

Full Description of event/sighting: I was driving to work (midnight shift) and I saw a big orange ball out over Lake Ontario towards Cobourg. There was a full moon that night and both it and the orange ball were reflected onto Lake Ontario. The big orange ball was above the moon. I watched it while driving for about 3 minutes. I was going passed a clump of trees and a garage and it was out of sight then but I was going to pull over and watch it take off after I got passed the garage. When I got to the other side of the garage it had disappeared. There was one other person that I was talking to about it, at a later time and he and his girlfriend had both seen it too. I have never seen anything like it before. Also my daughter and I were going to Cobourg just this year 2008 and again we both saw a bright light out over the Lake that disappeared and reappeared a few minutes later as we got closer to Cobourg. We told my husband about it when we got home and he said that people had been phoning the Art Bell radio show that night because they had seen something too.

Cloverdale British Columbia Silver UFO With Rows Of Portholes

Message: Hi Brian Hope that your back is better. Oh where can I start, my husband and I are or we prefer to be called young seniors. We have seen a lot of sightings over our life when we took the kids camping in remote areas around B.C. We saw lights that would shine around the mountain tops, dart around with no sound. So we knew that they were not helicopters or car lights. Some times they would be white lights, sometimes they were red and they would be in a straight line then they would shot straight up at a very rapid speed then disappear. We knew back then that there was something going on, but we kept quite about it because no one ever spoke about such things then.

The most shocking one I ever saw was over Cloverdale B.C. about five years ago in broad daylight around 1:00 in the afternoon going south on 176st. I happened to look up to the west and saw a glint of silver in the sky. It was a large craft. I could see many rows of port holes and there was a gold line around the middle. I asked my husband if he could see it. Of course he could not slam on the brakes as we were in traffic. When I looked back, it was in the clouds. I kept watching, but I could not see it any more. We believe that these crafts and beings are interdementional and they cannot be detected on radar and can disappear at will. It is all very interesting.

Full Description of event/sighting: It was a typical day at work on a sunny mid-morning on the sunshine coast. There were a few patchy clouds in the sky.
We were sitting down out side for smoke when it happened. The boys were chatting about boring stuff as I was slouched back just looking at the sky, which looked beautiful. I seen a egg shaped metallic metal colored looking object in the sky slowing heading in a southeast direction. This was going on for about 15 seconds. It looked to me to be about 6 meter's in diameter in the sky, but up high so it looked small. Then I saw a light single engine airplane heading in the objects direction. The plane flew past it as the object stopped. Then the UFO did a full on U-turn really sharply and followed the plane closely.
Then I lost view as it went over the buildings. The people in the plane must have seen it as it was close. I said too the guys at work if they saw it, but they didn't as they weren't looking. It was a weird thing to experience.

North Yorkshire Moors, England Cigar - Cylindrical UFO Speeds Off

Full Description of event/sighting: My husband was driving us across the moors. I turned to speak to him and out of the corner of my eye, noticed a large silver/grey object flying along the valley next to us. We were driving over the top of a large hill, the object was slightly lower than us but only 2 to 3 hundred yards away. At first I thought it was a commercial airliner and commented to my husband that it was exceptionally low. The object was travelling at about the same speed as us. Looking more closely, I observed, that while in shape, it looked like the body of an airliner but had no tail section, wings or windows. This observation was followed by an exclamation of " **** what the hell is that?" which made my husband look.

The object then accelerated to great speed and disappeared into a valley ahead. I was only a couple of minutes later, when we came out of our shock, enough to speak about what we'd just seen, that we realized that it had made no sound or left a trail of any kind. I've always kept an open mind about UFO's, but my husband was a total skeptic - not any more. I've reported it to a couple of places, but I think that people think I'm going mad. I'm wary about telling anyone now. Hubby doesn't want to talk about it.

North Yorkshire Moors - Near RAF Fylingdales Dark Disks Inside Yellow Glow

Full Description of event/sighting: Brian, this is in response to your sighting of a cylindrical object by a couple on the N. Yorks Moors the previous day to my sighting. There have been numerous sightings in the area on the 14/15/16th of the month some have been reported to the local press e.g.

I saw the two low, slow flying objects as I was returning home over the North Yorkshire moors approaching the RAF Fylingdales radar station near Saltersgate at around 22:30 on the 15-08-2008. Almost directly above the station were two very readily visible golden yellow lights moving at slow speed - as an ex pilot, knowing that airspace to be restricted as a danger to aircraft area due to radar emissions. I found this highly unusual and suspicious.

I found a safe spot to pull over and took out my camcorder from the car boot and filmed a couple of minutes of footage. (not the sort of spot to be parked for any length of time, as you are certain to me moved on by base security - especially if waving a camera around!).

To the naked eye (and I have aircrew eyesight) there were no anti-collision lights of any kind, which was confirmed by review of the video. The two objects flew in slow, close formation and moved Eastwards towards the town of Scarborough, which is some 10 miles away. They were completely silent, with a spherical bright orange/yellow glow, seemingly around dark objects at the glow centre - the dark objects appeared roughly disk shaped (cylindrical from a side view) - no fuselage or control surfaces were observable.

Driving further across the moors closer to Whitby, the objects were still visible and I was able to film them once more. I will try to email to you a frame grab from the second video which is the clearest shot of the objects. I hope this is of use and interest to your two witnesses. Providence, Rhode Island A Dark Round Object

It then stopped directly above then must have went straight up and moved beyond the atmosphere.

Description: My sister and I went for a walk around the blocks of Kilbourn Ave. and James Ave. We were looking up at the big dipper and out of no where we seen what looked to appear as a airplane. Then we noticed it was getting closer to us and appeared to be coming down like it was going to land. When it got right above us, there was red, blue, white and green lights flashing. It seemed to be a triangle form with 2 white lights underneath it.When we looked up above us it went straight up in the air,then it shot back towards the east.We kept watching and we seen more of them.They were different shapes but appeared out of no where and looking through binoculars.it was clear to see they were not airplanes.

Chatham, Kent UK Orange Orbs In Slight V Formation

Weather Conditions: Partially cloudy with breaks.

Description: Off duty Police Officer was in his back garden having a barbecue with friends. Approximately 21:00Hrs the conditions of the evening were dark with partial cloud cover (2-3 octas). The house views NWW and is on top of a hill, viewing a valley like area containing most of the town of Chatham. There are no obstructions to this view and the visibility is approximately 4 miles to the further side of the valley (hills with tress on the other side).

At this time the main witness and 3 friends spotted the slight V-formation of 6 maybe 7 orange orbs high up in the sky. No estimation on height unfortunately, however no sound could be heard (this may be due to height of objects). There were no navigation lights visible and the orbs were orange in colour (much like the sodium street lamp colour). The objects were estimated to be flying approximately 2-3 miles from the witness location travelling NWW to SSE in a straight line.

It has been mentioned that should the lights be likened to a commercial plane then they would have been travelling too fast as the area is frequented by commercial aircraft, being placed in the middle of several London Airport approach paths, and these aircraft are seen all the time. Also the aircraft that pass over the area fly a minimum of 3000ft (local aircraft below that) to a maximum of 5000ft if on approach. Any higher than that and you can still see the NAV lights/strobes.

The witness stated that as the lights appeared to get closer to a direct-line-of-sight position in respect to where they were, the lights appeared to speed up, however this could be put down to a visual illusion based on their speed of travel and the observers position.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:

John,

Please find the updated description (original plus the bits missing) [the updated description is above - John @ UFOINFO] PLUS an update from another independent witness (one that called the Police). Note I have changed the direction of travel after looking at the map last night and discussing with witness 1 the direction of travel. I originally put NWW to SWW, just to show a bit of honesty, but have changed it in the description [above] (the original didn't even work out right as it would have been in a U shape! I just don't get on well with points of a compass). Please see the attached map image.

I did check out the website of UFO Balloons and can make very little comment as I did not witness the incident myself. However the original witness states that the lights stayed in formation, then split in several different directions. The only explanation, should they be balloons, would be that the lights entered an airborne Vortices of wind, which would have this effect. My hunch is that this is RAF activity, however the second account counters this (please see update below) and would back up the idea that it may have been balloons that entered a vortices of wind. Either way in each account the witnesses could not pin-point what it was they were watching, therefore in their eyes, a UFO.

UPDATE: Witness 2

A report was made to Police on the 29th August 2008 whereby a female witness from Rochester had a sighting on the 28th August 2008. She explained that she was walking her dog late at night with a friend when they saw 7 orange lights fly silently over them in the direction of Gillingham from Strood. She stated that her sighting lasted approximately 30 seconds and she watched the lights as they approached her location. After about 9 seconds she said that the outside lights rapidly changed position and started circling one light in the centre of the circle whilst still flying in the same direction. She then went onto say that after about 25 seconds all the lights suddenly flew Upwards until too dim to see. She reported this the following day.

UPDATE FURTHER: Research

I have read on this site alone, of many similar reports in Kent alone (especially the River Medway-Strood report from 27th July) and other recent Kent reports. They all seem very similar, orange coloured lights seen. It would appear that this is probably somewhere nearby that is launching UFO Balloons or that the RAF/MOD/Some kind of commercial venture, are now using the area, possibly County, as a flight path. It bugs me that no Navigation lights are seen if these are aircraft, and some of the maneuvers cannot be explained away too easily. Interesting enough to keep me hooked for the time being.

Southbourne, UK An Orange Orb

Description: Whilst watching the fireworks on Bournemouth pier I noticed an orange orb to the east over Southbourne rising and travelling at a steady speed slower than a plane which travelled west over Bournemouth town centre and then seemed to stop. I watched it for about 3 or 4 minutes until it just seemed to fade out. It seemed to be round and the orange glow flickered like a flame. We spotted it again as we were walking home about 25 minutes later just to the west of the town centre when once again it faded out and was lost from view. There was no sound. It didn't have strobe lights like a plane. It couldn't have been a balloon as it was travelling too fast and there was no wind. There were thousands of people watching the fireworks so this object must have been seen by many other people.

It however seemed to be far to slow moved down as though it might be dropping then raised itself to airline level. It was to slow for a comet, to high for a hot air balloon and left us all wondering just what it could be. It was a good size as though it was an aircraft on fire

The Tideway Rochester Kent England Six Orange Objects

Description: We were standing outside our house when my daughter's boyfriend shouted that he saw a UFO. I looked up and saw an orange roundish thing flying around almost above our house. I tried to film it on my mobile phone and got a bit of footage but not much. Then an hour later my daughters boyfriend shouts again that there were more outside. I ran out again and saw 6 of these things. One was hovering over our neighbors house then darted quickly over
the other side of the road. I got out my camcorder and started to record them in night mode because in my eagerness forgot to turn night mode off. I filmed them flying then slowly disappearing into the sky. We are still waiting and watching for more. Today is my 12th wedding anniversary and I definitely won't forget this one in a hurry.

TV/Radio: I tried to ring Meridian News south east but no joy so I have sent them an email explaining what we had witnessed and whether they were interested in seeing the footage I caught on camera. I am waiting for them to contact me but i am hoping more people saw this too as I believe truly that other life forms exist.

Wibsey Bradford, UK A Orange Sphere Shaped Glowing Object

Description: This orange sphere came from a southerly direction, and hovered over Wibsey area moving at a slow pace, it moved to the right then the left then stood still. At the same time a low flying plane flew over very close to the left of it but higher. This Object then moved side to side and seemed to go backwards and disappeared. Within two mins, it returned to the same place and seemed to do the same again get lager and smaller and just hover over the same area.

It again moved in different directions then just disappeared.It seemed to be a small object and there was no noise coming from it. Very odd, in it's direction of moves and the shape of the light, not a plane, helicopter. I don't know what it was, but most of had a motor with the way it moved.

Toronto, Ontario A Bright Orb

I'm very pleased to have stumbled upon your blog for two reasons. 1. - I also am very much a believer of the paranormal, especially UFOs. 2. - I also seen the same UFO that evening in late August, early September while on duty as a (job description removed) at the Madison Ave pub here in Toronto, Ontario. The major difference was I saw this craft as a bright orb in the night sky. Then it suddenly grew extremely large then vanished. I asked my fellow security co-worker if anyone noticed it. They said no. At first I thought it was a star, then a star going super nova. But I doubt I could have see it that intensely without binoculars or a telescope. It clearly was a UFO powering up to accelerate. Since that date I have seen many more strange things which inspired me to create my own research group and website.

Full Description of event/sighting: Hi Brian, been a long time, We were coming back from my mother-in-law after dinner (rolling on Rte.116 Northbound) when my girlfriend and I saw 4 comet-like objects over the skyline of Montreal, Qc. The 4 objects were heading slowly southwest-bound and the sky was clear, no clouds at all, as dusk was starting to settle over the city.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't planes because we saw about 2 or 3 of them that were flying in the sky at the same time. I will try to draw a sketch of the event and send it to you by email later today, but it seemed odd to us that 4 objects could fly in the same direction like that.

The event lasted about 5 minutes before we lost them behind Mont-Royal.

Full Description of event/sighting: I don't generally buy into this type of thing, but while parked at a beach, myself and two friends witnessed a bright glowing oblong object in the sky steadily grow brighter, then disappear. It occurred a second time, it was large, closer than the 'stars' but further out than low flying planes.

After speaking to people in town, a number of folks saw it as well who were in different areas of this part of NB, and everyone is incredibly perplexed.

One witness took a photo, and it was apparently published in the local newspaper (L'Acadie Nouvelle), but I have not yet been able to find a copy of that paper.

Also interesting to note, is that the next night we were looking in the same area, hoping to witness the same thing while we had a camera, but instead we saw a steady stream of air traffic, all following the same flight path. In fifteen minutes we saw fifteen aircraft, of which there were three sets of pairs of smaller jets and one low flying large plane that looked similar to a Herc, all flying towards the area that the 'UFO' was reported, which is extremely out of the ordinary for this part of NB.

I feel pretty silly explaining this, but I have to say that my mind is boggled, as are the minds of many people around here. Mostly, I'm wondering if you have any suggestions as to how we can find out what this light may have been?

Brampton, Ontario Bright Light

Hi Brian, I was in Brampton, Ont. Sat.Sept.20th, We were doing a gig there and between sets we go outside to smoke. At around 10:00pm I noticed a bright object moving across the sky south to north. I pointed at the object and said to my friend. Check that out and she replied "it's a plane" and I said no and pointed at a plane directly above my head and said "That's a plane" she replied Huh! There were two couple's behind me and they said it too and were mentioning what it might be. When I went inside the club another friend came up to me and said "(name removed), did you see the space station?" and I replied "Oh is that what it was? Full Description of event/sighting: My boyfriend and I were walking back from the store that night and looking up at the stars. A light, almost like a star appeared and grew larger and larger almost like it was coming closer. Just behind it was a aircraft, getting closer to the light (it was like a spotlight in the sky). We were so amazed by it we had to tell someone. At that time the aircraft had caught up. It had disappeared. All this happened in about 5 minutes. A few minutes later it had re-appeared and gone again. We had seen other lights after that, about an hour half after this happened we saw a line of red lights (all attached with one dark light. Example: red, red, red, red and dark red slowly passing by ) It had got small as it passed and turned into a white light (like a star) and all we could see was a blurry shape in the sky. We have no clue as to what this was, but it was something we had never seen in our lives. Any answers?

East Of Port Angeles, Washington Bright Object

Hi Brian, I stepped out onto my deck at about 7:30 (approximately...not sure) and noticed what I thought was the International Space Station cruising by. It looked exactly like the space station. It was traveling from West to East (possibly a little North East but very slightly). I called my husband out and we watched it travel overhead. Just now I looked up the orbit of the space station to see if I could see it tomorrow and the information online says that I shouldn't have been able to see it at all. The last time it was visible here (I live 10 miles east of Port Angeles, WA, USA) was on the 19th of September. Or so they say. the information was just updated today. Can you help me out with this? It must have been the space station but the orbital tracker says it wasn't. This is strange. Thanks for any information.

Barrie, Ontario Object Comes To A Dead Stop

At 10.13 pm two sightings 3 minutes apart, same objects as the November 2007 sighting. I saw two of them tonight, it kind of freaked me out. I was looking at the big dipper and they appeared in the same locations, 3 minutes apart. They traveled and stopped, then blinked out after 30 seconds. It even was about 3 to 4 minutes each and 2 to 3 minutes apart. I don't believe in UFOs, but I can tell you I won't sleep well tonight. I see jets and aircraft pass every night. Please Note, these we not jets or satellites. Jets and satellites don't stop dead and move the other way.

Additional Information:

Barrie, Ontario Canada and the sighting happened on the evening of September 22, you know I am very neutral and reserved person who believe explanation and since my first thought would be a airplane or satellite. What really bugs me about this, is those objects can not stop dead in mid air and the lights don't shut off, they require to have them on at all times.

I did some research after the sighting and found many reports in Barrie, Ontario. There is one specific with video and pictures.

Being close to air traffic and Toronto International Airport, I know what lights in the sky would look like as we see them 30 times a night This object was no airplane or jet. This was very real. I came across your website when I was looking for an answer to what I saw today. Around 6:15am near Matthews Dr., I was driving to Niagara Falls from Welland, just passing Matthews Dr. and saw a very bright light in the sky and at first I thought it was a weird looking plane because it was so bright. Then I thought, no it has to be a cell phone tower. Then I realized there were no towers of any kind supporting it. I slowed down, realizing that whatever it was, was not moving, then I got very scared. I have never seen anything like it, but as I got even closer I noticed that whatever it is, it must be very large and it had 2 headlights (?) and was round (?). As I started driving away from it, I realized it was gone and that I was so scared that my legs felt weak. Hopefully someone else saw it, there were cars ahead of me, but I am very observant and others may have passed this off as nothing. I, on the other hand, definitely saw something. So if you know of any type of flying devices that were in the sky this morning I'd love to settle my.

Moncton, New Brunswick A Bright White Silvery Oval Shaped Light

Full Description of event/sighting: I am reporting yet another sighting in Moncton, Canada. This time it appeared to "come out" of a red/blue/green object and at first it was a small faded light, then grew into a bright white silvery light and travelled at a substantial speed to a point in the sky, where it faded then reappeared from where it was last seen. It then went back the exact same way it came forward. Both times it faded into view and then faded away. I've seen quite a few unidentified objects lately and before the at some point last week myself and my sister in-law witnessed 4 very, very large square objects moving slowly and at a low altitude. They traveled quite a distance in the sky and went from being 4 bright red lights to 2 faded lights without a sound. Then hovered in the night sky for about 5 minutes or so. We are seeing these lights on a nightly basis and I have checked with other people I know who work at the airport here where I live and they've said they cannot talk about things like that.

Caledonia, Nova Scotia Orange Lights Moving Over Tree Line

Hi there, Just stumbled across the website as I was searching for anything anyone might have seen these past two nights in the way of strange lights or occurrences around Nova Scotia, Canada. My boyfriend and I seen some strange lights last night over Caledonia, Nova Scotia, Canada. There appeared to be 6-8 small orange lights in a perfect line moving over the tree-line. There is no towers, personal or for broadcasting reasons (TV, Cell, Radio, etc.) in the area in which we had seen these lights, however there is a tower with red lights 5 minutes down the road that we couldn't see from this point (I reconfirmed that tonight by driving from different angles to this point where we seen the lights). The perfect line of lights stayed for no more then a minute, and it appeared the car in front of us might have seen it as well as they put their brake lights on, but proceeded along as did we. After about a minute the lights just vanished. No sudden movement or any blinking, just as if they were not ever there.

On my way home this evening, I took my time in hopes of seeing the same lights again to have an explanation to put my BF's mind at ease (I was raised to know that life exists beyond us and our Mother Earth therefore have no problem with the thought of one day meeting "visitors"). However I did not. Though I did see one single light, the same colour orange, about 10 minutes away from the sighting of last night, that was shaped like the "thumb nail" moon, but upside-down in appearance. It was over the tree-line where a number of Christmas trees are planted. There is no light pollution in this area, and the stars were brightly displayed with no moon. This seemed to 'turn off' or vanish as soon as I came in to the picture and slowed down to a stop to view it. I even did a u-turn and went up the road, then came back again just incase it was a tower or a light in the distance. There wasn't anything the second drive-by. So was let disappointed & more curious then ever.

Both times there was no sound whatsoever to go with the lights. Perhaps they were nothing to get excited over, and maybe just our minds playing tricks on us. There is an Canadian Airforce base not too far from this area, so I am familiar with different lights, sounds and what not day or night and don't recall ever seeing such objects or lights as I have these past two nights before.

North West Penrith, Cumbria UK Unknown Object And A Call To The Police

Full Description of event/sighting: I just posted this on my friends website, then searched Google in case it was also spotted by more people. It is still early yet as it only happened a few hours ago. At 9.45 pm tonight I was locking my front door and heading upstairs when I looked out the hall window and noticed what a calm clear night it was, and how the stars seemed to be real bright, brighter than I have ever seen before. Then I noticed a bright light heading towards my house. At first I thought a shooting star. So I thought I better make a wish. I thought to myself, then as it got closer I could make out details that dismissed it as a shooting star. It was flying the height of a small aircraft and it was bright, real bright white at the front with and orange in the middle, but the thing that grabbed me was the sparks coming from the back, nothing like a meteor I may add. It was way too slow for something like that and the speed was constant and the angle was the same. It was not heading towards the ground as a comet or anything would, but steady on it's path. Also it did not seem to be burning up.

I called the police I was that concerned that no one would see it but myself. I told the police I was calling them because I wanted them to check the seismic readings from Scotland to see if anything hit the ground. They said they had no reports, then the cop rang me back and told me it was just a military exercise! I mean c'mon man, how dumb do you have to be to let it go at that I thought. So I asked the cop to contact the RAF and see if anything was seen on radar. The cop called me back again, this time he said that it was nothing he could explain and no one could. I then said, but you just told me it was a military exercise. The cop stumbled for a moment, then not knowing what to say as he had just back tracked on his first statement about it being military. He then said, well we have had nothing on radar and nothing from Glasgow seismic monitoring station. I have a number to call the MOD in the morning, believe it or not they wanted me to leave all this on the DOD answering machine, but I refused and said I will speak to someone in the morning. I will post here the outcome of this as soon as I get off the phone with them.

I was looking at the plough. (7 sisters) It came from that direction and headed s/sw. It was not falling, it was not on fire and it never made a sound. It looked like electrical sparking or the kind of sparks you see in a steelworks factory, just like the old Flash Gordon ships used to spark. That's the only way I can describe it. Anyway I can't be the only one to have seen this, as it was just on the outside of my town of about 60.000 population. So keep an eye on the web for sightings in the NW UK on 22 September at 9.45 pm. I have a strange feeling, not a bad one, but a good calming feeling about me I guess I'm just happy I witnessed this, but I feel real happy, strange I know. I will keep you informed.

Object With Different Colors In Virginia

Full Description of event/sighting: My Mom was outside on my front porch smoking, when she told me to come look. When I went out we was looking at a spot in the sky pretty far away. It was just sitting there did not look like it was moving at all. You could see lights flashing from the object. Not flashing off and on, looked like they was flashing constantly. It stayed in the spot for about 30 minutes if not longer. It looked as if it was turning but not moving. Occasionally it looked as if it was moving a tiny bit. So I went to get my binoculars to see if I could get a better look, when I looked in the binoculars it was not very clear because it was pretty far away, but you could see several lights that were different in color and see that it was not moving.

My Dad, husband and Grandma looked in the binoculars and saw the same thing. So I got my camera and took some pictures. I zoomed in as much as I could and seen the lights and got some pretty good pictures. We have no idea what we were looking at, but we all seen it and we all believe it was something odd. What we saw with our eyes, ears and camera was the same. When you seen the pictures and looked in the binoculars you did not see something different is what gets me.

Warm Bay, Atlin, British Columbia Bright Light

Full Description of event/sighting: I saw a bright light in the night sky moving horizontally to the north. The light was East South-East of my location at Warm Bay on the east shore of Atlin Lake.

The light was brighter than any aircraft I have ever seen in this location. The light made no sound though it was at a great distance from me, possibly 10-20 km away, low on the horizon.

The bright light lasted 8-10 seconds and then took an additional 5 seconds to fade slowly out.

It's speed was that of small single-engine aircraft. However, in 17 years of living at this remote location in the bush I have only ever seen 2-3 small aircraft flying at night as very few pilots around here fly by use of Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) necessary for night-time navigation.

This is my third similar sighting in 5 years. The other ones I did not report.

Louis Head Beach, Nova Scotia Object Lit Up The Ocean And More

On September 24 at about 10:00pm my partner and I were looking out over the bay at Louis Head Beach, Nova Scotia (near Shelburne). Up in the sky there was a very bright light that lit up the ocean below. A few seconds later the light went out. After a few more seconds, 3 orange lights appeared. They were close together in a horizontal line and were blinking. Then it was gone. There was no sound associated with the lights. We would be interested to know if anyone else saw these lights.

Near Lake Lanier, North Georgia Low Flying Bright Light

I came across your website and blog article today while searching Google for news reports about an object I observed in north Georgia last night around 10pm (not quite sure what time it was) eastern time.

I live near Lake Lanier in North, Georgia and have been frequently star gazing in the evening as the weather and the sky have been wonderful. Crystal clear skies and low 50 degree weather make it possible to sit for hours.

Last night around 10pm I decided to stand outside and take a look off my back porch which looks to the west. I saw the typical stars and planets, and of course aircraft, always with their tell tail strobe. I noticed a very large slow moving object that appeared to travel from the south heading north just above the tree-line in a very low orbit. It was at least 5x in diameter of the brightest star in the sky and easily 5x as bright. It was distinctly yellow in color, and took approximately 1 to 2 minutes to pass out of view. There was no trail, and no change in course.

You were the only person on this date to report anything similar.

I checked various Nasa and satellite websites, and entered in my long and lat, and have found nothing. Based on the speed at which this object moved I have a hard time thinking it was a meteor, but then again with no satellite data reporting a flyover in my area. I'm baffled.

I'll be out again tonight to look for a repeat show.

Figured I would let you know we may have seen similar or the same object, at roughly the same time (not sure what time zone you are in,)

Full Description of event/sighting: I was walking home from work, September 24th, and as I was walking down Fifth Street to my house I happened to look up at the sky for a brief moment, I seen nothing out of the normal until a sudden movement in the sky caught my eye. I looked up again and saw three silent oval glowing (white) disks. I continued to watch thinking maybe it was just my eyes playing a game on me but after about 20 seconds I realized it was legit. The disks stood still for another 10 seconds before slowly switching into a rotating triangular pattern, in which lasted roughly 5 seconds, after they started moving slowly south, and then shot off in a streak of light.

My fiancé looked at me and said what was that. I was so scared I couldn't sleep. It was no transformer blowing up because it was a neon green and it made no sound. I can't even explain it. Then we heard a noise (BOOM) then the sky glowed a light pail blue, which was seen at least 30 miles in each direction. The light was so bright we had to look away. The next morning the radio station was swamped with calls from people seeing and hearing the boom from miles in all directions from where I was at the time of seeing this. No authorities can explain was this was but I know it was a UFO. If someone else has seen this or can help us get more resources that we may look into to get a better understand of this great seeing.

Gibbons, Alberta A Planet Like Blob Of Light

Shape of objects: Planet-like blob of light.

Full Description of event/sighting: We were out walking in the valley that runs beside and through town when we spotted this bright light almost directly above us. It was the size of a Jupiter or Venus when they are at their largest and low on the horizon. So a very large blob of light and kind of orange-yellow like you would expect a planet or reflecting object to be.

We didn't realize it was moving at first because of the tree tops waving around and we were moving too, but then it became apparent that it was tracking East-by-North-East, and actually moving quite rapidly. Faster than an airplane or satellite.

There were no flashing lights whatsoever and the object did not change intensity or colour the entire time it was in view (two to three minutes).

We ran up the hill to follow it before we lost it behind the trees (which obscured a great portion of the sky from where we were down in the valley) but despite this it managed to disappear behind some treetops for about 10-15 seconds, during which it vanished.

When we emerged from the trees, there were no clouds in the vicinity of sky it vanished in.

I thought it was maybe the International Space Station, but this was in the wrong hemisphere at the time, and travels the opposite direction anyway. It also was not a weather balloon as the winds were very strong and heading south east, not E-NE. It was not a meteor because it was too slow, and left no vapor trail of any kind. It was not a plane since it was a single circular blob of light (much like a very large planet) with nothing flashing.

St. Walburg, Saskatchewan A Soft Yellow And/Or White Colored Object

Message: Hi Brian, I see a report on your site from Gibbons, Alberta that occurred tonight. I just want to relay a sighting that may actually tie in to this one.

The film crew and I were in St. Walburg, SK (in an open field) tonight filming an episode for the History Channel. It would have been after 8:00pm (when exactly I am not sure. We arrived at 7:00pm and it took a while to setup and then were filming a while when time just flew and it grew dark.) During the session I happened to look up in the sky. There was a rather large strange looking light travelling northeast. The film crew saw it too but the camera could not pick it up as it was too far away and too high up. It was a strange kind of soft yellow and/or white color. Not a perfect round shape either. Like it had a ring around it only the entire light form was one piece. We watched it until it disappeared behind a large cluster of darker clouds. The light did not flash and remained constant. (The moon was not visible tonight.)

We were able to compare an actual plane to this sighting as one flew southeast a short while later and it's light was flashing.
