My girl friend and I saw strange orange lights just east of Boston this evening at 6:00 p.m. (1/6/2012) There was a black spot low in the sky around close to where the lights were.
They moved slow and in different directions, glowing bright then dim. Very strange, never saw anything like it. Anyone else in the Boston area see this?

I just saw the same thing in JP at 9:35! I googled "Boston lights sky" and your blog came up. What is it??
I'm not sure what night, it was maybe the last week in December. My Boston Police Scanner on BPD Ch. 6,Dor./So.Boston, an officer announced "Up In the sky people"
I ran out on to Dorchester Ave, nr Savin Hill Ave. and saw at least 4 orange lights in a line, one after the other. Very high and moving roughly north from South, I tried binoculars but really couldn't see much clearer. HAB Dor.
Hi, I know this is an older post but it is 7/2014. I was looking for something similar to what i saw last night. I saw 7-9 of them organized in an almost near arch shape going down the highway. The thing that got me was the black spot you saw. I also saw a black object following to the left of the arch and it was VERY black even against the night sky. So, when I read your description I immediately knew I was right on and so were you. Thanks! By the way I'm in western mass about 90 min. from Boston
