Bright Orange Flame Looking Objects Over Plainfield Illinois

Date: August 11, 2012
Time:  Evening.

I saw two of the same Saturday night. I thought they were Chinese lanterns, then realized there was no breeze and one was heading east to west.

Then 10 minutes went by and one was traveling south to north. Bright orange, flame like balls.

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

Also, please feel free to send in your sightings that have happened years ago. So many of these older sightings are nothing short of amazing.

My name is Liz, I live in plainfield IL, 60586. On saturday 8/25/12 at aprox. 10:45 P.M. I was in the car heading north on Naperville/Plainfield road when directly to my right (East) I saw a round, orange, glowing ball of light was in the sky, low to the ground, about 1000 feet. There were no flashing lights or signs of it being a plane. The light seemed to retract back into itself leaving a solid round mass, then it was gone.

Tonight 7/27/13 10:20 P.M. EST. over Noblesville, Indiana my nephew and I both witnessed "something" that we both thought originally to be a Chinese lantern, however, the path it was traveling was south east and the wind was blowing in from the north east. It appeared to be a ball of flame when it was overhead but diminished to an orange appearing ball once it traveled some distance.

We do live somewhat close to the Indianapolis Airport, however, it was not traveling in the typical pattern that most aircraft we see traveling.

near Rochester Illinois i saw several bright orange objects heading north toward Springfield Illinois. They came one after another, so it couldn't have been planes, and it was also moving too slow to be a meteor.
