Martians invade Earth and attack humans. In "War of the Worlds", Hollywood has created a new race of aliens to cash in at the box office. But do moviegoers believe visitors from another planet really exist? "Never can tell, movies have to come from somewhere," one told us. "Out of billions of other stars out there, there's bound to be something else." "No, I don't think so. I haven't seen any lately, so I don't think so. There's a lot of crazy people out there, none are aliens."

UFO experts have taken 6 reports in the last 4 months alone in Southern Alabama and Mississippi. That's just part of fifty years worth of sightings along the Gulf Coast. Brian Vike of the HBCC UFO Research center says he hears hundreds of stories just like hers each year, and believes some of them are true. He said, "When you get the cases when you can't come up with a reasonable explanation. We will really be selfish and arrogant to think we are the only life in this vastness that we live in."

University of South Alabama Physics Professor Dr. Kent Clark disagrees with that assessment. "Most of the time, if not all of the time there is a natural explanation for unusual things in the sky." Clark has a shelf of science fiction books, and plans to see the movie, but he says there's no way that Martians are coming to town. "A lot of the stars in the galaxy are too dim, cool. They don't have the right color to sustain plant life. So life there wouldn't really get a good start. The chances for intelligent life are very, very, very remote," he said.

Some folks still believe that aliens could jump off the screen and into our lives, and are ready just in case. "What would you say to an alien out there? "HI!!"
