I live in mid Connecticut and this is the second night in a row now that I have seen a light circling in the sky. It was around 10:00 p.m. and last night and 11:00 p.m. tonight.
I have seen the same thing in FL before with 4 circling lights, but I had assumed they were spotlights from a nearby amusement park.
Another time was in MA, which was very similar to my first sighting. I thought it was kind of odd, but blew it off.
This being my third sighting has spiked my interest. I am very curious as to what it is. It's so eerie! The way the light penetrates the clouds leads me to believe that there is no way it is coming from the ground.

It continues to make the same circle. The light is very bright when it hits the cloud, and the beam disappears shining downward. If this light were coming from the ground, I feel like the beam would be constant and stop when it hit the cloud, rather than it disappearing in the downward direction.
Hard to explain, but it definitely gets you thinking.

I've been seeing a light in the sky very similar to what you are describing for the last three nights in St.Louis Mo It's 8pm right now and the circular light orb is moving in a large circle as i type this. Im sitting on my porch with family and they asked me to do a google search to see what the light is but this is the only post really talking about it. I also thought it was just a spot light from some local business but Ive lived in the same home for over 25 years and this is the first time seeing this as far as i can remember....hmmm?
I live in Upstate NY and am experiencing the same exact light you described. It seems to circle around the same perimeter, over and over. It gets bright at some points and dimmer at others. Have you seen this again?
I live in the Tidewater region of VA. On May 20 2012 at about 1:30am I saw a blue light circling in the clouds behind my home. I told my wife to come have a look and she saw it also. I have never seen anything like this before. It seemed to be coming from in the clouds which were slightly forming a loose spiral but dense. I have tried to explain it away since then. But the slightly irregular large "laps" it was making could not have been coming from the ground. I have looked for it every night since to no avail. I watched for about 45 minutes then my wife got a little frighted and said we should go in. I looked out about an hour later and it had stopped. This was also the day of the "Ring of Fire" solar eclipse. Could they be connected? Anyone near here see the same thing that night or any other? I will never be able to forget it.

For the last two hours or so there has been a white circling light right above the clouds. At one point there were two lights following each other. Now it's back down to one. I had my daughter come out on the terrace to view this. It's just as described above. It doesn't seem to be coming from the ground. I'm on the 22nd floor. If it was coming from the ground I would have noticed that. Since I'm on the topic I have also noticed lights hovering above and near the Verrazano bridge on the Brooklyn side I think. From where I am they look like magnified stars about 8-12 of them until they start to move. Then I realize as one peels off after the other, often taking the same route, that they are helicopters. I would like to know why multiple helicopters hold a meeting in the sky in the same spot and what they are doing. They often leave then come back again to hover in the same spot. It's so odd. It's so high up. So u don't hear the usual noise of the motor or blades.
Now the clouds have cleared and the white lights have stopped. It's as if they will only operate behind a cloud.
I am in Dover, Delaware and there are two circling lights, one moving faster than the other and continuously passing it in a circular motion. It is cloudy, there are no light beams coming from the ground. It is about 10:57 on Sunday night, September 1, 2013.
I just saw something like this as I was walking home. It was just one light making irregular circles. At first I thought it was some kind of spotlight or searchlight, though normally with that type of thing you can see a beam going up and I saw no beam. I figured the source was somewhere off in the distance, maybe in the city or something. Until I started walking and the source point of the light seemed to change. First it was in front of me to the right, then in front of me to the left, then directly to my right, then in front of me in the distance to the left, then directly in front of me, then it stopped circling and faded out. I live in a very hilly area, and if had been coming from where it looked like it was coming from when it faded out there's no way I would have been able to see it from where I originally noticed it. I would loose sight of it for a minute or so between when it seemed to jump locations. I live just outside of Pittsburgh PA, but I was walking West and Downtown Pittsburgh would be approximately South East. I saw the light when I got off the bus around 9:30 or so until maybe 9:45ish. The date today is October 21, 2013.
I've seen 3 lights circling through the night clouds and deflecting off each other for the past two nights. The pattern is too erratic for a spotlight or search beam. Never seen this before, should I bring out the duct tape?
I guess I'm the latest lucky one to the "sightings group of circular moving lights in the sky".
I've been trying to see if there are any others reporting this to TV , internet etc. in St. Louis Mo. tonight 9/5/2014 but only found wicked lighting , heavy blanketing clouds and rain was earlier stated on the tube. The clouds did have a majestic look earlier before the rain started this evening.
Now ... let's get to the lights. These have been appearing for the last 2 or 3 hours since about 7:30PM , off and on after the last rain fall. They appeared south of me and have a definite fast moving circular pattern. I first noticed 3 or 4 white lights spaced apart moving through the clouds in a west to east noodling ovals ( but a deliberate loose pattern ) with no light source from land , fading and glowing brighter at times but not changing color. The white lights where to largely disbursed in size , plus inside the clouds dimming or glowing brighter for lazars to be the answer. AS stated before by others maybe from above or actually from self emitting electrical glow surges passing in and out through the different shaded cloud forms. Hypnotic and entertaining in ways to say the least.
Now that's the first part of what I saw because I have a few strange things to add. I went inside my dwellings to grab my binoculars to see if I could see better into the clouded lights but that proved to make not much improvement to what I was seeing. Also by the time I did come back it had changed to 2 circular loops with about 8 to 10 white lights moving in opposite directions in a figure 8 but not continuous to crossing paths to each other's loop. When the white lights did come to their meeting center point it made for a simultaneous 4 bright lighted section glow. I've never seen anything like this before ... I watched for about an hour. I went inside to check the news and came back out about 30 minutes later to see the circles gone but there was a faint moving lighted plasma pattern effect to a cloud form in the middle of where the figure 8 was. I watched for awhile and went inside again to reappear about an hour later to see the whole thing had started again with circles farther south , miles away toward my southern horizon. It seemed to be moving with just that one cloud group form.
Maybe a new or ancient natural electrical phenomenon from earth's past ... global warming anyone !
Doylestown pa 9:45 just saw circling lights about 5 of them then they meet in the middle,sounds like the same thing..never saw this before..10/18/2014

I spotted 2 lights circling in New Hyde Park, NY. It is 8:30 pm. I have never seen anything like this.
I live in Denver. Yesterday I saw a white light circling round and round for atleast 5 minutes. It was circling in a fix perimeter and appeared to me like a white bird flying just over the clouds. It was kind of shrinking and expanding like a bird does with its wings. I called my wife downstairs to see it but by that time it was gone...

Last night around 9 pm I stepped out on my back porch and saw a big cloud in the night sky and right shinning thru the cloud were four lights going really fast in every direction then would all meet up in the center over and over again. These lights would only stay within the cloud. After about 30 minutes pieces of the cloud started to disappear leaving only one small piece with just one bright light traveling up and down then side to side until it was just completely gone.

Today at 10:15 pm as my daughter and i went walking to the mailbox. The sky was partly cloudy my daughter pointed to the sky where four dim lights appear to be moving in circles and meeting in the middle doing this over and over. The lights appear to be above the clouds. The lights where very dim you had to stare for a while to really see them. I'm still very Curious as to what it was.
This is happening right now over my home in New haven Ct. Four lights circling, them meeting in the middle to form 1 light , then returning to the circle to start another rotation. There is also an intermittent sound that sounds like a very loud jet engine. I used to live near an air force base & it sounds like a jet engine taking off. Sometimes I can hear the sound, sometimes it is quiet. I have heard the sound almost every night for the past few months, but have never seen the lights before. The lights are above the clouds & there is no visible light source coming from the ground. They have been there for about 1 1 /2 hours. Very strange.
I saw a blue light in the sky moving in a circle it was very errie nothing but white heavy clouds and a blue light going in a circle someone plz explain never seen anything like this
We are seeing these lights tonight at 10:20 pm. There are thin wispy clouds in the eastern sky forming a a circular shape in the eastern sky. The orbs of light look like fast moving birds flying in and out of the clouds in a circular pattern for the most part. We have been watching them for almost an hour. We can't catch the orbs on camera!

I saw three white objects flying in a circle (like a bird over prey) at airline altitude. They flew in circles for about 10 minutes and then they flew off in different directions. This happened about 5 summers ago.
